Surah Al Baqarah:50-59

Reflection 20th May 2009

Do I just live to eat? How much of my life is revolving around food? How much of my family and friend’s life is revolving around food?

Lately I have been trying to catch up on some fasts so I can control food then; however whenever I break my fast I feel Nauthubillah that I deserve to eat more and have desserts. Otherwise too a lot of times I end up having more than what the sunnah tells us. Moreover, whenever I meet my non-deeni friends our gatherings mostly revolve around food.

My family especially the lives of my relatives revolve around food. We usually meet for a lunch, tea or dinner party.

I was thinking Abdullah bin Jash(ra) was chosen as an ameer for controlling his hunger and thirst. Insh’Allah I have made a firm resolve to do so as my stamina will be built that way. May the Ummah learn from Prophet(saw) and the Sahaba’s sunnah(ameen)
