What’s Your Sign?

What’s Your Sign?

by Farah Mughal Wafai

27:65

“Say, None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah , and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.”

[Quran-Surah Al-Naml:65]

“Oh! It’s here!” Farah exclaimed excitedly, ripping through the envelope.

“What, dear?” Her husband wondered.

“My new horoscope prediction booklet for 2011. So cool, so cool!” Farah laughed with glee.

Yaar, what a waste.” Husband laughed off his wife’s silly pleasure.

Farah’s Tafsir teacher reported the following hadith in the tafsir class.

Safiyah bint Abi ‘Ubayd from one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), who narrated that he said: “Whoever goes to a soothsayer and asks him about something and believes him, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days.” (Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh).

Farah suddenly felt like she couldn’t breathe. She thought, How could she be so foolish all of these years while buying these books that are disliked in the eyes of her Creator? How easily she was being misled!

When returning home, Farah took all of her previous horoscope booklets and threw them out, including the one she had just received.

She took a look at it and had never felt so much disgust before in her life for anything.

“Ya Allah! Forgive me,” she sighed.

Farah cried that night in her salah.

The End
