My ‘Love’ Chart

Zahra Haque

“Never will you attain the good [reward] until you spend [in the way of Allah ] from that which you love. And whatever you spend – indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.”
[Al-QuranSurah ‘Ali `Imrān: 94]

What I Love How Can I spend in way of Allah?
  • Quran
By sharing it with the whole world Insha’Allah
  • Time

By being punctual for Qur’an class. By not procrastinating important work and making use of any spare time to spread Allah’s () deen verbally or via email. Also, doing dhikr whenever possible even while exercising, cooking or traveling.

  • Money
Using it to give ration to the poor, giving it out as sadqah and zakah, using it to buy gifts.
  • Family & Friends
Motivating them to learn more about Allah’s (deen, acting upon it and spreading it. I should encourage them to come towards it by sharing ayat, ahadith and personal experiences.
  • Sleep

Sacrificing it to wake up on time for Fajr and reducing it to do dhikr of Allah () in the late hours of night and especially at the time of tahajjud.
  • Food

Eating the way prescribed in the sunnah.
RasulAllah(صلى الله عليه و سلم) said, “The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach; for the son of Adam a few mouthfuls are sufficient to keep his back straight. If you must fill it, then one-third for food, one-third for drink and one-third for air.”
[At-Tirmidhi,Ibn Majah].
This also includes sharing food with those who are needy.
One thing that I need to do more is to put pieces of bread and water outside for the birds to eat.
  • Car
Using it to transport those people who are needy.
  • Nice Clothes
Giving to those who are more needy and not hoarding too many for myself.
  • Internet

Using it for useful things like passing on good emails and pasting good articles on tools like Facebook,Blogs,Websites and Twitter that will promote deen.

    Asalam Alikum,

Zahra we can all relate to this chart so easily. We need to put up something like this in our homes, so we are constantly reminded of the blessings we do have and to use them in the right way. Cause, as we learnt in class, true gratitude for something is to use it in the right way!

    Jak!
