Gratitude is an Attitude

Uzma Jawed

“And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, Praise [is due] to Allah , who has favored us over many of His believing servants.”
[Al- Qur’an-Surah Al-Naml:15]

I try to be as grateful as I possibly can, especially when I am constantly in touch with the Qur’an. However, I am ungrateful every single time I start complaining, and at those times I truly forget all the blessings that I have been given.

It only takes one mosquito, one tummy ache, one argument, for me to forget all my blessings!

I need to learn to be more patient and more steadfast in my deen. A believer never complains! May Allah   make me into a true believer. Ameen!

About Quran Reflections

Al-Huda's branch at Khayaban-e-Sehar is one of the few Quran courses being regularly conducted in Karachi, Pakistan, where the mode of instruction and examination is English. The students and teachers have decided to upload their reflections on the Quran and class notes on this blog, in order to be available to a global audience for the latter's benefit and inspiration.

One Response to Gratitude is an Attitude

  1. Uzma jazakillah kheiran for sharing this.
The moment you start complaining know that Shaitan is instigating you and seek refuge in Allah s.w.t.May Allah s.w.t be you guide always.Keep on praying and Allah’s s.w.t help will come.
The topic of gratitude reminds me of Surah Ibrahim:7
“And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.’ ” 14:7
