Creation of the World – The Equation

Safia Kemal

Say, “Do you indeed disbelieve in He who created the earth in two days and attribute to Him equals? That is the Lord of the worlds.”09
And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures’] sustenance in four days without distinction – for [the information] of those who ask.10
Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, “Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion.” They said, “We have come willingly.”11
And He completed them as seven heavens within two days and inspired in each heaven its command. And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and as protection. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.12

[Al-Qur’an: Surah Fussilat(Explained in Detail):9-12]

The Qur’an is Fussilat. It explains things in a beautiful manner. Unfortunately, we think that it is only for adults. However, simple concepts can easily be and ought to be shared with children.

Good teachers try to assess the level of the students and then explain concepts that are easy for them to relate to and understand. Similarly, children can also be taught deen (religion) in a way that is easy for them to understand. Additionally, creative ways can be used to help children better understand simple concepts. Flashcards, color books that attract young children, story-telling and other visual experiences are used as learning tools.

In the manner we worry about worldly education, we need to worry about our children’s akhira. We need to ask ourselves whether our children understand the purpose of their life to worship Allah  (سبحانه وتعالى ). This purpose is best understood when parents work with children in helping them establish a relationship early on in their lives with their Creator. This will help define their mission of life and eventually helps them achieve the desirable results in the end.

This presentation is an attempt to share with young minds the concept of how Allah   (سبحانه وتعالى ) created the world as described in ayahs 9-12 of Surah Fussilat.

Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) has blessed me with three sweet children, Alhumdulillah. I love being a mother and now enjoy their upbrining even more in light of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Qur’an has become my support system in life. It has given me a realization of life like one I never had before. It is not just an experience but one that leads to finding peace, tranquility and a connection with our Creator. Qur’an has not only given me insight about who Rabb is but also taught me to be aware of my biggest enemy, Shaitan. Alhumdulillah, I am learning to live a conscious life.

I pray that everyone should come to the Qur’an to understand the beauty and real essence of Allah  (سبحانه وتعالى)’s kalam (speech). My contact is safiakemal@yahoo.com.

One Response to Creation of the World – The Equation

  1. sayed says:

    Dear Safia Kemal Rafi
Your aim in introducing the scientific part of Quran Karim is admirable. But if you have used some more of your voluble time in collecting more information’s for better clarification and explanation of this verse it would have been better. And from other side; you know scientists are more curious, can find the weak points of a literature very quickly and are looking for new more information.
    Here you have not added that Allah (s.w.t) created the earth and its similar.
In this case you would have understood the use of the forces mentioned ( the balancing force between the earth and others masses similar to the earth) in this verse. From the other side you have added a term of (on the earth firmly) which I think creates much misunderstanding (according to the previous way of thinking. Before people were thinking that the earth was firm and fixed without any motion). And what was the initial start of creation (the light) required to be mentioned here which is not mentioned.
From the other side for the translation of such advanced subjects advanced Arabic dictionaries are required that I am sure you don’t have it. One of the meaning of (سَوَاء) is equilibrium and one the meanings of (سَّائِلِينَ) is (liquid matters like water and similar to that). If these meanings would havebeen used here your article would have been more informative and attractive.
I hope more successes to you.
    Thank you.
