بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Is Our Character anything like that of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم)?
Allah bestows a great honor upon Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) by saying to him,
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
“And indeed, you are of a great moral character.”
[Al-Qur’an – Surah Al-Qalam (The Pen): 04]
In this ayah, Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) honors Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
I can only imagine how arrogant I would become if I were given this honor by any person of having a great moral character!
In contrast, Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is praised several times by Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) in the Qur’an, and it is even specified that he was upon ‘Khuluqin-Azheem’, the ‘Great Moral Character’. Yet, all this praise made him even more submissive towards Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) and his personality exuded humility. These qualities made him truly worthy of such praise. He indeed was of great moral character.
Our success in this world and the Hereafter is guaranteed if we emulate Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم)’s character, personality and way of life.
So in order to follow the lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم), I am going to create an initial checklist that I need to start following:
- Well-wishing for others
May Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) give me the courage to follow and the ability to maintain these traits. Ameen.
